Breastfeeding the Older Baby

MamaNatural.com I’m a huge extended breastfeeding advocate, and plan on nursing Griffin as long as he wants to. When he was first born, I found so many awesome books and online resources about breastfeeding. I learned about the proper latch, the appropriate amounts and times to nurse (any and all times!), the best breastfeeding positions, etc. Griff and I sailed through nicely for the first 8 months because, up to that point, he really wasn’t eating a ton of solids. Once he did start incorporating food, he dropped his afternoon feeding. Like any first time mom, I started wondering… “was this OK?” I then started looking for books and online sources to learn more about the process of weaning. I didn’t find much… What I did find was vague and theoretical… I wanted a plan! Unlike the 8-12 feedings in 24 hour period guideline for newborns, all I saw were general statements like “the baby and you will figure it out.” So, I stumbled through the weaning process, and will continue to, by talking to other moms, a lactation consultant and my Bradley teacher. What I’ve learned along the way is trust yourself and trust your baby. The baby will lead the way The weaning process certainly isn’t linear There’s no set plan or program. All we can do is share our experience. We need to talk more about this so that we aren’t alone through. By 13 months, Griffin went down to one nap a day, and dropped another feeding. At this point, he had just three feedings during the day; however he

Rainbow Doubled Her Weight in 56 Days

RogerHaeske.com Our daughter Rainbow Love Haeske doubled her birth weight of 5 lbs 13 oz to 11 lbs 10 oz in 56 days. This happened on October 4th, 2011 as we’ve described in the video above. This was 5 days before she turned two months old. Rainbow was born on August 9, 2011. This was all done on breast milk. No toxic formula used at any point. And the breast milk was generated on a raw food diet. We had some friends of ours who had a baby a few months or so before Rainbow was born. He doubled his weight in 100 days and we thought that was really fast. Supposedly breast fed babies tend to double in weight in 4 to 6 months on average. Looking back at my baby pictures it looked like I might have doubled in weight or come close to it in the two month range as well. I was breast fed for a year but my mother was eating a fairly standard or meat based diet at the time in the late 1960′s. This is Roger Haeske “The 44-Year Old Teenager” signing off, NOTE We zeroed out the weight of her diaper ahead of time. She has on a clean diaper as we just changed her. Soon we’ll be working on getting rid of the diaper and potty training her. NOTE: This is my 45th Youtube video. Hence if you look at the previous video with Rainbow you won’t see the number 44 synchronicity anymore in that regard. You can see what Rainbow looked like at about 3 days old in the original video we put up of her. She was a lot smaller and thinner then. “4 It’s a Wonderful Life” www.youtube.com . =
